I cannot say enough wonderful things about Colleen Duewel and her team at LionHeart Eldercare. Over five years ago when my father-in-law was having another significant mental health crisis and my MIL's cognitive abilities were continuing to decline, my husband and I (with full time jobs and two kids) were beside ourselves with what to do. I got Colleen's name from a friend and called; it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. She listened, asked questions, and assured me that, although our situation was tough, she had seen tougher; LionHeart Eldercare could help. Now, all of these years later, my in-laws are living in a safe and supportive community. They have a LionHeart case manager who meets with them regularly, helps them schedule their doctor apts, take them to them, and arranges for and oversees aides to help them be safe and well during their days. There are also LionHeart friendly visitors who have been their "friend" for years who visit and do activities with them. Another huge positive of LionHeart is the connections they have. When my inlaws needed to move out of their single-family home, Colleen knew a company to help them downsize, another one to pack, etc. They have relationships with organizations who can be hired to help elders who are no longer able to manage their bills and finances, and they can help you find a good match. LionHeart Eldercare has made it possible for my family to just be their family - not their caregivers. This has helped them age and decline with dignity. We have our 1 or 2 scheduled visits a month where we can share a meal, play a game, and look at photo albums together. Watching your parents become incapable of managing their affairs or themselves is so hard, but Colleen and her team have made their lives so much better and thus ours. I can't recommend them enough.
